Where have I been???

Well, where do I begin to explain where I have been and what I have learned in the past 5 months.

Ironically, the last time that I posted to my blog was the day that my life as I knew it got completely turned upside down and stripped from me. That was the horrible day that my husband of over 13 years came home and told me the dreaded, "I don't love you anymore." Turns out that yes, even at the age of 33 you can be traded in on that little 20 year old. No seriously...... not kidding! She is 20 and has a three year old! Along with losing my husband, he also let the house that we owned go into forclosure. So the children and I with the help of our amazing friends and family moved into a rental house and have begun the daily struggle of survival. We have had huge peaks and valleys, but life goes on. We will survive, and perhaps come out better for it. I have discovered through this journey that I am a lot stronger than I thought I was. The other discovery was how absolutely wonderful my friends are! Talk about sticking with you through thick and thin! Blessings and angels are what I feel I have around me. Bags brimming to the top with groceries, unexpected money appearing when the utilities are being shut off, strangers that love you enough to adopt you and make sure that your children have a spark or happiness on Christmas morning where if not for them there would be nothing but love to offer . The best blessing was truly an act of our loving God. In a day when people with Masters degrees are applying at fast food restaurants and being turned away, I was blessed with a job working as a book keeper for an really wonderful and caring man. Things are looking up. I have tried to squash the hurt and pain, and have began mending my relationship with Tommy, my husband. Even after all of the hurt and pain he has caused this family, and the absolutely horrid way he has behaved. At the end of the day there needs to be a common ground for us to meet on and raise our children together. It really sucks being the bigger person most of the time, but my kids are going to benefit in the long run and perhaps so will the two of us.

The wonderful and fabulous, Julia, who has helped me through some of the darkest hours came over and said it was time and performed a "scrapbooking intervention" on me! Must have worked because in no time I was ripping, distressing, and inking to my hearts content. Kind of like riding a bike. For those few hours I actually felt whole for a lack of better words. They aren't the greatest layouts, but it was a start!

I have have heard from a few of you that you have been following my blog, but there hasn't been anything new for quite some time. Well those days are over. The Beckmeister is back!

I am hosting a page swap on TSR. An on-line community that I am a member of. We have 4 groups of 5. We each were to make a 2 page layout for each gal in our group(s). The pictures uploaded out of order, so my groups are mixed up, but here they are:

These are my layouts for group #1. All layouts are the same for this one. I liked these so much that I used the same sketch for the Chino swap too.

These layouts are group #3. The papers I used are Scenic Route's "Ashville" line of papers. Used up alot of those Eyelets I have just had layoing around too. 24 eyelets per two page layout!

These are my group #4 layouts. I used the Glitter Stack on 4 of them, and Creative Memories papers on one of them. These look better in person!

These last three layouts are my "labor of love." I love the handmade look of paper piecing! After just having to add pictures and journaling on the swap pages, these each took me quite a while to create! Worth it though, I think.

Thanks for Teachers!

I did some altering this week! I made clipboards for the kids' teachers as Thank You gifts. They could have been quite a bit better, but I think they are decent for one night's work. I know HUGE procrastinator!!!! The teachers loved them, so I guess that is all that counts! It was the least I could do for these four women that helped my three kids have such a fantastic year!

I used the Sonata papers from CTMH for this one. Thanks Mrs. Carlisle! Bren is ready for whatever 7th grade throws his way after being in your class!

This one was for Trev's teacher Ms. Garcia! Probably one of the best teachers I have ever met!! Hopefully Kaylee can be in her class in a couple of years! I used some Blush papers from Basic Grey for this one!

I used More to Adore from CTMH for this clipboard. Kaylee had the pleasure of being in Mrs. Heacock's and Mrs. Zabaleta's 1st grade class! They were both absolutely amazing! What could be better than getting two for the price of one! Kaylee is very sad that school is over! She asked them to move up to second grade, so she could be in their class again next year! Thanks Mrs. Zabaleta!

I used More to Adore again for this one I made for Mrs. Heacock! She flipped out when she saw it and got the directions on how to make them. Summer project for her three kids!

We had a lazy, lay around, stay in your jammies kind of day yesterday. We watched movies, and just spent time as a family in the comfort of the air conditioning! Summer's arrival is letting itself be known where we are in the world! IT'S HOT!! While we were being couch potatoes I pulled my stuff out and scrapped on the coffee table. 8 more pages for the year. I need to buckle down and work on a few swaps now. I have a couple with looming due dates, so I suppose I should get working on them. I have put a pretty good dent in all of my kits lately, so I suppose I can justify getting MORE!!

This page was done by Amanda L. in one of our swaps! Worked great for all of these pictures of the boys Boogie boarding. I have sooooooo many beach pictures! I need to scrap more of them before I start taking any for this year. If we can afford the gas to drive out there!! Ridiculous! I challenge all of you other fellow scrappers out there to take a picture next time you fill up, so we can document this craziness!!! It is the kind of thing that will be fun to look back on in the future! The kids will be all saying,"Oh look! That is when we still had a vehicle that was powered with fossil fuels! " LOL! I got the idea to take a picture(s) of the costs of things these days from a fellow scrapper, Tami! Great idea girl!

Yahoo Boy/Girl swap!

On the Yahoo group I am in we are doing a boy/girl sketch swap. There were five of us in each group. Two of the gals only wanted girly pages, so in the boy groups I made them girly counterparts to go with the boy ones I did . This swap is with a group of exceptionally great scrappers so I can't wait to get these back!

Group #1 - Girl 2 page layout. I love the flip flop paper!!

Group #2- Same sketch- one for each sex. Made two different girly ones for the two girly girls! I used the new Fabulous papers by My Mind's Eye! Love that Line! The second girly one is from my stash of my all time favorite paper! I LOVE Pink and Black together! This paper is retired :o( What ever will I do!

Group #3- Girl 1 page layout. These were all made from American Crafts paper sets that I had. They are all a little different.

Group #4- Boy 2 page layouts! Too cute!

Group #5- Boy 1 page layouts. I made all of these, (boy and girl) from the Rusty Pickle lines Chocolate Bunnies, and White Chocolate Bunnies! I LOVE these!

The group I crop with on a monthly basis decided to do another page kit swap after we finished our last one. Of course I had to participate! LOL! There were two groups of five. The first group i made the same layout for everyone, but as you will see the second group I used all different papers.

Croppin' in Crestine!

This Past weekend I went up to my friend Julia's SIL's Cabin with them and we scrapped pretty much non-stop for a day and a half! As long as you aren't counting the time taken out to eat "Turtle Pie" and the couple hours of sleep, we were busy just going at it!! I can't believe how much I got done! 26 pages (used up a lot of those swap pages!!) Embellished and finished a few swaps I am working on, and did another 8 pages that just need some extras added that I didn't have with me at the cabin. Not bad for the amount of time we were scrapping! I wonder how much I would have gotten done if we had gone for two nights instead of one??? Julia and Cat got a ton done too! It was a completely fun and productive weekend. The two things that we learned this weekend are that every cropping space needs a pair of dear antlers to hang Cricut mats when not in use, and "All the scrappers using Eylets in the house say WHOO HOO!!!" LOL! All scrappers, and Mommies in general need weekends like these to just get out and be themselves! Good Times! Can't wait till the next one!

On the Yahoo group I belong to, I was in a page kit swap where all we had to do was cut the pieces and add the embellies to a bag along with a picture of how it is all supposed to go together. I was good again and used supplies that I had on hand. I made two of each color scheme. The only one that is actually adhered down is the first one, because that is the one I am keeping for myself. The others are just laid out to show where everything goes. Being a page kit lover and buyer, these are some of my all time favorite swaps!!!!!!!! Love it!!

another sketch swap for the books!

We did a sketch swap with the group that Julia and I crop with on a monthly basis. This was the first time swapping with this set of ladies, and I can't wait to see what they all came up with on Saturday at the National Scrapbook Day Crop! There were two groups of five each. As you will see, I didn't use the same paper on any of them! I used up the stuff I had on hand. Yay for me!! That I think was probably the most difficult part of the swap for me....... to keep myself from running to the LSS and getting new stuff just for the swap!!

Here are the layouts for group one: The kits were all made with bits of monthly kit club papers that I have had.

Here are the layouts for group two. I made 6 of these, because I was liking how easy this sketch was to reproduce. The papers used for all of group two come from TLC and are in their Runway paper kits.

Another 8x8 swap done!

Today must have been that infamous get everything done, so I can move on to the next project day! After completeing the cards for the card swap, I got busy and finished this 8x8 swap. I had to make 12 of each page. I left titles off unless the other ladies still wanted the titles. We did these pages using the Bazzill Blueprint sketches. I LOVE those sketches! On the yahoo group I am in we have a layout tag game going on right now. I was tagged, and had to create a layout using some or all of the design elements from the girl in fron of me's layout. We have 60 hours to create our new layout and tag the next girl in line! I chose the elements of colors, the flourish, and the big circle. I did this layout real quick this morning while the kids were getting ready for school! I love this picture of Kaylee and I. The story behind it was that her school pictures were horrible, so i took her to get her picture taken. We tried EVERYTHING to get her to hold still so we could get just one. Finally the photogragher suggested that I get in the picture with her, and wha la!! Thankfully I was dressed in an outfit that kind of matched, and I actually did my hair and makeup!! I suppose it was meant to be!

I just finished up a swap where I was in three groups. We are making an 8x8 album, and each of us had to make 12 2 page layouts based on the month that we chose. I took on three months, so I could get more that one album set back. I did March (Easter Bunny theme) , April ( Flower theme), and November ( Turkey theme). Whew! 72 pages in total! Lots of paperpiecing, inking, and detail work. Fun stuff though! Now to rock out some more real pages now with "PICTURES" on them!!! LOL!

Yesterday morning I got the scary news that my neice Mandi was involved in a roll-over car crash, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. It is amazing the thoughts that rush to your head when situations like this happen. I can say that I was a mix of worry wort, and mother hen, "Oh my goodness, I hope and pray she is okay!" to " What in the heck was she doing!!!" I'm happy to say that her angel was definitely with her and she is alright. A little banged up, and a lot sore. I'll take that any day rather than facing one day without Mandi on this Earth with me. When I was talking to her on the phone last night, she was retelling the story of the horrible accident, which I 'm sure she had told so many times earlier that day. The thing that I find the most chilling and brings goosebumps to my body is that at the time of the accident she was listening to Carrie Underwood's song "Jesus Take the Wheel." and singing along with it. How weird and awesome is that?! Food for thought for those who don't really believe!

2008 is fast approaching, and it is time to widen my horizons!

My friend Julia and I just recently met a very nice lady that said she blogged all of the layouts she did during the year. We thought that was a GREAT idea!! For several years I have tried to complete 365 scrapbook pages complete with photos and journalling. 2007 was the first year that I acually accomplished my goal! I completed 389 pages!! Woo Hoo! Now I am addicted, and can't wait to get going on my 2008 pages. I will be posting pictures of all the pages I get done and swaps I get done during the year. Should be a fun ride! Julia and I are starting the year off with a bang by joining a challenge to get a page a day done in the month of January. Bring it on baby!!
